Relay for Life 2008

Hope for cancer

March 8 2008 is an important day for all Malaysians, as it is election day for Malaysians, however, there is one more very important and meaningful event happening over at Penang, the Relay for Life, an annual rally of cancer supporters and survivors to spread awareness of cancer among the general public! Despite unfavorable weather conditions, there were still a lot of participants who turned up.

This year was a spectacular event, with 300 teams participating! Among them are big names and major donors, Dell, Wawasan Open University and many more, all doing their part in contributing to this meaningful cause.

Other than corporate entities, there were students participating as well, most notably, Equator Academy of Arts Penang, with a whole parade of participating students, truly a sight to behold!

Participants were treated with performances from students of St. Georges Secondary School, the young and sassy girls danced under the rain as relayers walked round the course. The event continues through the night till 10am tomorrow morning. Today truly is a day of double importance for Malaysians and even more so for Penangites!
